First official image with Mercedes-Benz Class S

The first official photo of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Class S has surfaced. The limousine is expected to arrive in the second part of this year.

The new generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class, codenamed W223, displays a radically modified front end. The newly patterned grille is flanked by striking headlights with a new, narrower and longer signature.

"It will be a technological gimmick," is the threat launched by Daimler CEO Ola Kallenius towards rivals BMW 7 and Audi A8. He promises fans a really special model.

Mercedes-Benz is counting on a technological revolution in the cab of its future S that will be completely different from the current generation. Thus, the vertical touchscreen, in the style of those found on board the Tesla Model S limousine, will take over the functions of the physical buttons previously found in the center console.

And the trim range will be changed. There will be new versions for the seventh generation of Mercedes' peak range. Customers will be able to order plug-in hybrid versions or micro-hybrid systems at 48 V. In 2021, an electric version is expected to arrive, EQS. The limousine will be equipped with semi-autonomous level 3 rolling functions.

We can say that the first official image of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is actually the second one. A luxury limousine appeared on set, where Daimler CEO Ola Kallenius announced the resumption of production at the factories of the German premium manufacturer.
